The Department of Basic Education has now released the results for the 2022 Matric exam rewrites, also known as the Second Chance Matric Programme. Over 230 000 candidates sat for this round of Matric exams.

Second Chance Matric Results 2022 Stats

239 024 participated in this exam period. 95 929 of them were for National Senior Certificate (NSC) and 143 499 were for Senior Certificate (SC). 772 404 scripts were marked by 9 323 markers in 54 marking centres.

11 557 candidates passed Mathematics and 8 528 passed Physical Sciences.

This exam period began on 26 May and ended on 7 July with the department saying it was successfully administered, “despite the enormous challenges relating to the Covid-19 pandemic”.

  • Go to the Department of Basic Education Matric Results Portal – https://www.education.gov.za/MatricResults/ExamResults/tabid/175/Default.aspx
  • Enter your Matric Examination Number in the required field
  • Click on the ‘Search‘ button to access your Matric 2022 Results
  • Note: You may need the following to log in: Exam number, Home Language, Your personal details (name, surname, etc.)

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The results reflected on the website education.gov.za are the results of the individual subjects written in the 2022 Senior Certificate midyear examinations, and DO NOT include the results of the National Senior Certificate midyear examinations.
  • Only candidates who wrote and are resulted in six or more subject will obtain a result status, otherwise the status will be reflected as “Incomplete”.
  • 9999 indicates an incomplete status.
  • The Statement of Results will be available at the centres from 24 August 2022.
  • Some subject or candidate results may be excluded from the results published on this website, because of technical reasons. Please enquire at centre where you wrote or at your district/provincial office.
  • The Department of Basic Education reserves the right to change any of the information published on this website.
