** The Licensing Unit is an agent of Gauteng Province in the administration of driver’s and vehicle licences. It also carries out vehicle testing.

** When needed, the unit liaises with the National Special Investigations Unit to investigate incidents of fraud and corruption. It also liaises with the National Department of Transport on legislative matters, national directives and national standards for driver’s licences and vehicle roadworthiness.

You must bring along the following documents to make use of our services :
Driver’s licence renewal :
** ID
** Photocopy of ID
** Four ID photos
Learner’s licence application :
** South African ID, valid passport or valid driver’s licence
** Photocopy of ID, passport or driver’s licence
** Two ID photos
** Prescribed fees
Driver’s licence application :
** ID
** Photocopy of ID
** Original learner’s licence
** Photocopy of original learner’s licence
** Four ID photos

Applications for duplicate registration certificates :
** Applications must be done in person by the titleholder of the motor vehicle.
** A certified copy of acceptable identification together with the original of such identification must be presented with the application.
** Application forms for the various transactions are available at all our service delivery centres or can be downloaded from .enatis.com.
Our service standards
We have set the following standards :
** Not to exceed a turnaround time of 24 hours for transactions submitted in bulk.
** Not to exceed a waiting time of 40 minutes for single transactions.
** To test learner’s licence applicants daily as scheduled.
** To enable learner drivers to do the practical driving test at the earliest opportunity.
