Stilbaai Senior Open 2022 :

Conditions of Play :

** The competition will be held in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A Rules Limited and Local Rules as approved by the Southern Cape Golf Union.

Entry Requirements :

** Open to Amateurs who are older than 50 (Fifty) years of age, and members of a Golf Club affiliated to the Southern Cape Golf Union and who have a handicap of 24 (Twenty Four) or less as assessed in terms of the SAGA Course Rating and Handicapping System.

** Players must be 50 (fifty) years of age before the start date of the tournament.

Entries :

** Entries will be limited to 56 players. Should more than 56 entries be received, entries will be reduced by ballot in terms of higher handicaps.

Form of Competition :

** The tournament is played over one day. 18 holes will be played on Saturday 18th February 2022 at Stilbaai Golf Club.

** A Division (0 – 12 handicap) will play Medal & Individual Stableford,

** B Division (12 – 24) will play Individual Stableford, and is subject to entries ballot.

** In the event of a tie for the championship, a sudden death play-off will take place over Hole 18 until the winner is determined.

** All other count outs will be done using the R&A Tournament count out method.

** This will be done via the Albatros Scoring Program that will be used during the 2022/18 OOM season.

** SCGU will also be sending an official scorer to each Senior Open.

Entry Forms :

** Obtainable from Stilbaai Golf Club, Secretaries of all other Affiliated Golf Clubs, the Union Office and on the Southern Cape Golf Union website .scgu.co.za

Closing date :

** Entries close at 12h00 on Wednesday 15th February 2022. Late entries and entries without payment or payment arrangement will not be accepted.

Withdrawals :

** Only written or faxed cancellation will be accepted and if received after the closing date no refund will be made.

Draw & Starting Times :

** The draw will be conducted by the Southern Cape Golf Union.

** Tee times will start from 08h00, and players will play in 4 balls.

** Any competitor who is absent from the tee when called upon to start will be liable to disqualification or penalty under Rule 6-3.

** The draw will be emailed to the Senior Database; will be available at Stilbaai Golf Club, the Southern Cape Golf Union’s office and on the Unions web site .scgu.co.za by Thursday 16th February 2022.

** It is the player’s responsibility to obtain his tee-off time.

Registration :

** All participating players must register at least 30 minutes prior to their tee off time on Saturday 18th February 2022.

** The registration area will be located in the lounge area of the Club House.

** Breach of this condition will result in disqualification.

Decisions :

** Decisions and disputes of any kind will be dealt with by the Tournament Committee of the Southern Cape Golf Union.

Practice Area :

** The putting and chipping green is located in close proximity to the Clubhouse.

Caddies :

** This will be the Players responsibility. All Players must arrange for caddies or permission for outside caddies with Stilbaai Golf Club on 028 754 2625.

** Note that limited Caddies are available.

Golf Carts :

** Due to the availability of only 12 x Golf Carts, only players with a valid reason or medical certificate will be allowed the use of a Golf Cart.

** The granting of such will remain at the discretion of the SCGU, and ensures that the playing field is fair.

** Golf Carts can be booked with Lindy Murray at the SCGU Office, and will cost R170 for 18 holes.

** This amount will be payable to Stilbaai Golf Club on the day of play.

Dress Code (Category B Open) :

a) Soft spikes.

b) Golf specific shorts will be allowed. Shorts must be knee length and cargo or draw string shorts are not permitted.

c) Only recognised golf attire will be allowed. No collarless shirts.

Distance Measuring Devices (D.M.D’s) :

** For the duration of the tournament a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device.

** If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3.

** Penalty for breach of Rule 14-3: First offence: Two Strokes, Second offence: Disqualification

Prize Giving :

** The Southern Cape Golf Union hereby requests that all competing players please attend the prize giving on Saturday 18th February 2022.

** Failure to attend will lead to players forfeiting their prize.
