Free State Amateur Open Championships

** Free State Golf Union 2022 Open Amateur Strokeplay Championships To Be Held At Bloemfontein Golf Club On The 19Th, 20Th And 21St January 2022.

Conditions of play

** Entries will be limited to 156 players.

** The competition will be played under the rules of Golf as approved by the R & A Rules Ltd and the Bye Laws and Local Rules as approved by the FS Golf Union.

** The SAGA Hard Card will also be used.

** Open to Amateurs who are members of a Golf Club affiliated to a Union recognized by the SAGA and who have a handicap of 6 or less as assessed in terms of the SA Course rating and Handicapping System or other system acceptable to the SAGA. If more than 156 entries are received, the below exemption of conditions will be enforced.

** All players have to register their rounds on the HNA system before play.

Exemption Categories

** 8 Current Premier Inter-Provincial players from A Section 2017 and 4 from each B-Section Premier Interprovincial team as nominated by their Union.

** The Top 50 players on SAGA Ranking System will be exempted. 30 Players from the Free State GU as will be determined by the FS GU will also be exempted.

** Rest of the field to be made up with players from the current SAGA rankings.

Form of Competition

** The competition will be played over 72 holes Strokeplay, 18 holes on Friday 19th 18 holes on Saturday 20th and 36 holes on Sunday 21st January 2022.

** After the second round a maximum of 60 players returning the lowest aggregate scores and ties, will qualify for the final 2 rounds on Sunday.

** Obtainable from Secretaries of affiliated Clubs, website of FS Golf Union (fsgugolf.co.za) and the website of the SAGA.

** The FS GU reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving any reason for such refusal.

** Entry forms by e mail to fsnc AT mweb.co.za or faxed to 086 616 5167. Player to ensure faxed form was received by Union’s office.

Entrance Fee : R700-00. TO BE PAID AT REGISTRATION ON FIRST DAY OF TOURNAMENT.

Closing date : Friday 12th January 2022 12h00. Late entries will not be considered as well as entries not on entry form.

Draw and starting times :

** The draw will be conducted by the FS GU. Any competitor who is absent from the tee when called upon to start will be liable for disqualification or penalty or under rule 6.3.

** The draw will be available on the Union’s website .fsgugolf.co.za and the website of the SAGA, alternatively from Union’s office at 057 899 1724 as from Tuesday 16th January 2022.

** It is the player’s responsibility to obtain his tee-off time.

** Player may receive sms with tee-off time.

Decisions :

** Decisions and any disputes will be dealt with by the TOC of the FS GU.

Distance Measuring Devices :

** Only conforming distance measuring devices may be used.

Dress Code: No Short Trousers Allowed.

Caddies :

** Only local caddies allowed.

** Outside caddies must have permission of Club Manager.

Anti Doping Policy :

** All competitors are subject to the provisions of the International Golf Federation’s Anti-Doping Policy.

** Details of the Policy and the current Prohibited Substances and methods are available from the International Golf Federation’s internationalgolffederation.org Competitors who are taking medication and in doubt as to their clinical status should seek advice from the South African Golf Association not later than 30 days before the start of the tournament. Random testing may take place.
