DBE Matric Results
Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, will announce the results of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations in Pretoria on Monday.
The matric exams concluded on 15 December 2023 after a strenuous academic year. The release of the matric results have been approved by Umalusi, the Quality Council in General and Further Education and Training.

General Information
** The results reflected on this website are the results of the 2023 National Senior Certificate examination.
** The Statement of Results is available at the school/exam centre where the candidate wrote.
** Some candidate’s results may be excluded from the results published on this website because of technical reasons. If a candidate’s results do not show, the candidate should please enquire at the centre where they wrote or district/provincial office.
** The Department of Basic Education reserves the right to change any of the information published on this website.
** Results for candidates from the Western Cape will only be accessible after 12h00 on 24 February 2023.
Apply For Correction/Re-Check
** Candidates must ensure that names and identity numbers reflect correctly on their statement of results and report any required corrections to the department before 30 June 2023.
** A candidate may apply at the prescribed fee for the re-mark/re-check of his/her examination scripts. Registration can be done at either the school or district office in the province (all instructions appear on the reverse side of the Statement of Results)
** Closing date for applications for manual and online applications is 10 March 2023.
** The supplementary examination in February/March has been phased out and is therefore no longer available.
** A new examination is available during May/June where candidates can improve their results or complete outstanding results. The closing date for application is 31 March in the current year.
** The event for the matric results will be hosted by the Ministry of Basic Education in partnership with the MTN SA Foundation.
Fee for Re-Check :
The fees for re-marking is R120 per subject and its R290 for re-checking a subject. Viewing of scripts may only be done after a re-mark or re-check of results. The closing date for applications is seven days after release of re-mark or re-check results.
NSC Exam Reports
A total of 578 468 full-time candidates sat for the 2023 NSC examinations. The overall pass rate for the 2023 cohort represents a decrease of 5.1 percentage points from 81.3% in 2019.
Although there is decrease in the pass percentage, there has been a notable increase in the number of learners that attained the National Senior Certificate.
The achievement of the Class of 2023 should be acknowledged with due respect to the fallen heroes of education sector.
