** The Wakkerstroom Music Festival is a Non-Profit Organisation and a Public Benefit Organisation.

** The aim of the WMF is to promote an awareness of Performing and visual Arts in rural communities and raise funds for a bi-annual Bursary Competition.

** The hills will come alive with classical music for the seventh consecutive year in the picturesque town of Wakkerstroom over the long weekend of 17-21 March 2022.

** The Wakkerstroom Music Festival is a non-profit organisation which aims to mainly raise funds that will enabling promising music students to further their studies.

** Usually a place of birdsong, quiet and solitude for visitors who come to this internationally renowned wetland birding centre to “twitch”, the festival has become well known in the classical music world, and has become the highlight of the social and cultural life of the village, and a draw card for the many visitors who attend annually.

** Twelve bursaries worth the total of R160 000 for undergraduate or post-graduate classical music studies to be awarded in the following categories Piano, strings, wind and voice.

** First prize R25 000 in each category

** Third prize R5 000 in each category
