World Food Programme Internship
The position will be based in our Programme Unit of the Regional Bureau for Southern Africa (RBJ), based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The internship will be typically for the period of at least 3 months during June to August/September 2023.
The internship can be pursued in person or remotely, depending on the pandemic situation and the international travel restrictions in place.
PD Internship_ Urban Response
Qualifications and experience
- Currently enrolled with in a graduate programme and have attended classes in the past 12 months,or a recent graduate from a graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme). Preferred areas of study are Humanitarian or Development Assistance, International Relations, Geography, Urban Studies and Planning, Social Sciences or another related field
- Excellent command of English; Working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams would be an asset.
PD Internship Programme 2023 – Monitoring
Qualifications and experience
- Currently enrolled with in a graduate programme and have attended classes in the past 12 months,or a recent graduate from a graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme). Preferred areas of study are social science, mathematics, demography, geography, statistics, or related subject
- Excellent command of English is required; Working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Advanced knowledge of Tableau Analytics and other relevant statistical applications (e.g.: web-based databases,) to organize, analyze, share, and use of monitoring data is desirable
- Knowledge of results-based management principles and practices is desirable
- Experience with the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data is desirable.
PD Internship Programme 2023 – Digitisation
Qualifications and experience
- Currently enrolled in a graduate programme and have attended classes in the past 12 months,or a recent graduate from a graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme). Preferred areas of study are International Affairs, Humanitarian or Development Assistance, Programming, Economics, Law, Social Sciences or other related fields relevant to international development assistance. An interdisciplinary background would be an asset
- Excellent command of English; Working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Experience in working in multidisciplinary teams would be an asset.
HOW TO APPLY
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US00 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation,;necessary visas and related costs.
- Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
- WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
