What is STB Registration?
A platform that allows beneficiaries and approved suppliers of digital TV decoders to register. It also allows for seamless redeeming of the government subsidies for digital TV decoders through an already existing network of suppliers and retailers in South Africa.
Eligibility
A person / individual / household with a combined monthly income of R3 200 or less. You can apply for a government-subsidized TV decoder at your nearest Post Office or online at www.stbregistration.gov.za
** You must be a South African
** You need to earn a household income of less than R3 200.
** The following documents are required: ID, proof of residence and proof of income or affidavit.
You will be able to watch all public channels from SABC and e.tv for free. There are also additional entertainment channels available with this decoder. There are no monthly subscription fees.
How To Do STB Registration?
STB Beneficiary Registration
You can check how to register online, Click on Help Center and select online help. To register as a beneficiary, you need to have a mobile phone with you.
Option 1 :
** Open our website www.stbregistration.gov.za, Click on Register and select Beneficiary
** Fill in the details, read and accept terms and conditions, and click register now
** A vericiation code will be sent to your mobile phone for verification
** Enter verification code to complete the registration
** Upon successful verification, a PIN will be generated and sent to your mobile phone
** Once you have received your PIN, you will be able to login as a beneficiary on www.stbregistration.gov.za portal
** Login with your mobile phone number/ID number and the newly created PIN
Option 2:
Visit your nearest South African Post Office branch to register for a government subsidized STB with the following documents: ID, proof of residence and proof of income or affidavit.

** Fill in the details, read and accept terms and conditions, and click register now
** A verification code will be sent to your mobile phone for verification
** Enter verification code to complete the registration

** Once you have received your PIN, you will be able to login as a supplier on www.stbregistration.gov.za portal

How does a beneficiary redeem their digital TV decoder subsidy?
Once your application has been approved, an approved supplier will contact you to arrange installation. After successful installation of the digital TV decoder, beneficiary and installer may reedem thier subsidy.
How does the supplier get paid for the installation?
Upon successfully redeeming of a subsidy from the beneficiary:
The supplier’s account will be credited with the amount value of the subsidy
To withdraw money from the supplier’s account:
** Open our website www.stbregistration.gov.za, Click on Login and select Supplier
** Login with your mobile number and PIN
** Upon successful login, Click on Wallet and select Withdraw Option
** Enter amount to withdraw into your nominated bank account
