SASSA Payment Dates For March 2021

Now that February is coming to an end and March is upon us, SASSA has announced the dates for beneficiaries to get paid for March 2021. SASSA issues grants to vulnerable South Africans all over.

SASSA distributes grants to poor and vulnerable South Africans. Now that a new month is about to begin, it’s good to know the payment dates for the different grants.

The South African Social Agency (SASSA) released the various payment dates for the month of March 2021, they are as follows:

  • Older Person’s Grants 3 March 2021
    • This includes any grants linked to these accounts
  • Disability Grants 4 March 2021
    • This includes any grants linked to these accounts
  • Foster Care Grants 5 March 2021
  • Care Dependency Grants 5 March 2021
  • Child Support Grants 5 March 2021

There is also good news for SASSA beneficiaries as they will see an increase to their social grants this coming April.

Social grants will increase by below inflation rates of between 1.0% and 3.4%.

During his budget speech on Wednesday, Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni announced the following increases to social grants:

  • R30 increase for the old age to R1890
  • R30 increase for the disability grant to R1890
  • R30 increase for the care dependency grants to R1890
  • R30 increase in the war veterans grant to R1910
  • R15 increase in the child support grant to R460
  • R10 increase for the foster care grant to R1050

The government expects to see a decrease of 2.2% of social grants over the next three years.

The Social Relief of Distress grant which sees beneficiaries receive R350 per month will come to an end in April. There is no fixed payment date for the special COVID-19 SRD grant.

Payment of the R350 grant to beneficiaries will happen once applications have been approved and payment information is processed and verified.

Payments are still currently in progress. So, those who haven’t been paid yet need not worry as they will receive their payment and still get their coming months payments again if they still qualify.
