Design Competition :
What must be designed :
** A dwelling House that satisfies the latest criteria of the Department of Human Settlements for Subsidized Housing (Low Cost – RDP) on a site selected by the designer.

The design must communicate to the judges the following :
** Use of sustainable but not commonly used materials
** Ergonomics
** Individualism and uniqueness – not for mass production
What must be submitted to the SAIAT Head Office :
** Brief explanation why the designer regards himself/herself as “historically disadvantaged”
** Complete design documentation satisfying the criteria set by the Department of Human Settlements and complying with the NBR
** Costing of the project
** The research into the requirements of the Department of Human Settlements and the compliance with the NBR form part of the competition and entries not fulfilling these requirements will be disqualified.
Who can enter :
** Any professional with a current SACAP registration (details must be provided)
** Closing date of submissions Friday 24 February 2022 (office close at 15:30)

“Historically Disadvantaged” for the purposes of this competition is defined as follows :
** Any person who was disadvantaged politically in the past prohibiting him/her form studying or completing his/her studies at a tertiary educational facility
** Any person who was disadvantaged financially in the past prohibiting him/her form studying or completing his/her studies at a tertiary educational facility
** Any person who was disadvantaged physically (sickness of physical disability) in the past prohibiting him/her form studying or completing his/her studies at a tertiary educational facility.
