The Gauteng Department of Education announced that late online registration admissions are now open for grade 1 and 8 learners.
The Gauteng Department of Education announced on Tuesday that the late online registrations will be open for grade 1 and 8 learners from the 22 December to the 22 January 2021.
Walk-in centres will open on 18 January 2021 for those applicants who need assistance to apply.
“We would like to call upon all parents who could not apply in June/July to visit gdeadmissions.gov.za and grab this opportunity to apply accordingly.
“Please interact with officials on 0800 000 789 for further assistance,” said Gauteng MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
Parents who applied during the June/July period may not reapply as the system will not allow them to do so. Parents should also note that they can only apply for schools that have available spaces.
Those parents of unplaced learners may choose available schools on the system and parents who were unable to upload documents may also upload them.
All systems will be closed on 22 January 2021.
A total of 211 643, composed of 101 059 Grade 1 applicants and 110 584 Grade 8 applicants, have been placed in schools across the Gauteng Province as of 21 December 2020. This translates to 95.22% learners that have been placed so far.
Approximately 10 632 learners are still unplaced.
Parents of unplaced learners are encouraged to take advantage of this period.
“Our officials are working tirelessly to place all learners in our schools. We wish to reiterate that placement is prioritised based on the home address closest to the school within the school feeder zone, pending availability of space.
“Unfortunately, schools that have reached capacity cannot accommodate more learners, however alternative space will be offered,” said the MEC.
Our late online registration is officially opened from today, 22nd December to the the 22nd Jan 2021. But please remember it’s only for schools that have available spaces so you won’t find those popular schools on the list. Best wishes @Steve_Mabona @educationgp https://t.co/KEREYNbRgs
