Eskom Bursary Programme 2025
A bursary or grant is a means of non-repayable monetary support designed to assist students who meet specific financial eligibility criteria. It is usually awarded to enable a student to attend school, university or college when they might not be able to, otherwise. Some awards are aimed at encouraging specific groups or individuals into study.
To qualify for the Bursary, you need to possess all the required qualifications and meet all requirements before applying for the Eskom, Eskom Bursary 2025.

Eskom is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2025 academic year. Eskom will award 50 bursaries for University studies and 35 bursaries for University of Technology studies.
Bursaries will be awarded for studies towards the following qualifications:
University students:
- Chemical Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Civil Engineering (BEng / BSc)
- Electrical Engineering: Light Current (BEng / BSc)
- Electrical Engineering: Heavy Current (BEng / BSc)
- Mechanical Engineering (BEng / BSc)
University of Technology students:
- Chemical Engineering (Diploma)
- Electrical Engineering: Light Current (Diploma)
- Electrical Engineering: Heavy Current (Diploma)
- Mechanical Engineering (Diploma)
The Eskom bursary was formed as a means of broadening the skill pool in the country and empowering young students to reach their career aspirations.
The final selection will depend on the applicants Matric final results.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 28 days after the bursary closing date – if you do not receive any feedback by 14 October 2025, please regard your application as unsuccessful.
Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
University students:
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be currently in Matric and will complete Matric in 2025
- You must have received conditional acceptance to study towards one of the BEng or BSc Engineering degrees listed above, in 2025
- You must intend on studying at a recognised and accredited University in South Africa
- You must NOT be registered at any tertiary institution
- You must NOT be in receipt of any other bursary award
- You must have achieved a minimum of level 4 for English in Grade 11 final results
- You must have achieved a minimum of level 5 for Pure Mathematics in Grade 11 final results
- You must have achieved a minimum of level 5 for Pure Physical Science in Grade 11 final results
- Candidates with disabilities are encouraged to apply
- Preference may be given to applicants from underrepresented designated groups (in line with Eskom’s employment equity plan and its employment equity goals and targets)
University of Technology students:
- You must be a South African citizen
- You must be currently in Matric and will complete Matric in 2025
- You must have received conditional acceptance to study towards one of the Engineering diplomas listed above, in 2025
- You must intend on studying at a recognised and accredited University of Technology in South Africa
- You must NOT be registered at any tertiary institution
- You must NOT be in receipt of any other bursary award
- You must have achieved a minimum of level 4 for English in Grade 11 final results
- You must have achieved a minimum of level 4 for Pure Mathematics in Grade 11 final results
- You must have achieved a minimum of level 4 for Pure Physical Science in Grade 11 final results
