Section 1

Mobile devices (iPad / tablet / cell phone / Go-Pro) :

Category 1 : Back To School

** Backpacks and school hats, books and blazers, fields and friends Capture the return to school after a holiday or weekend.

Category 2: Culture Reconciled

** Illustrate how contemporary South African culture is proudly brought to life through communities, fashion or food.

Category 3 :

** All Creatures Great And Small “The earth was made for all beings, not just human beings”. Unknown

** Spaces And Places (Black and white photography) Explore objects of beauty and fascination.

** Whether it’s hand-drawn or done using a computer, bring an object or characters to life.

Competition Rules

** The competition is open to any pupil in high school.

** All images submitted may only be photographed using the following image capture

tools: Mobile devices OR DSLR cameras.

** A minimum image size of 1 Mg is required. (If images are smaller a motivation needs to be submitted with the image).

** Only images submitted via digital.kearsney.com will be considered. Follow the “photo upload” link to the instructions for uploading images. If you have any queries with regards to uploading photographs, please email photo AT kearsney.com.

** Movie files should be in a format that can by read by VLC (such as .mp4 or .avi)

** All entries must be original photographs or films taken between the period 1 January 2025 – 1 June 2025. No archived images or films will be accepted.

** The competition board reserves the right to query any image submitted.

** The images remain the copyright of the photographer. The competition reserves the right to publish the images in order to promote or market the competition and winners results.

** The photographers reserve the right to use the submitted images for their own personal use but not to enter the image into any other photographic competition within 6 months of the closing date of this competition.

** Competitor’s entry fee is R100. This fee entitles the entrant to submit 5 images per category. Fees should be paid to: Kearsney College Trust, Standard Bank, Hillcrest, Branch Code 045 726, Acc: 052019365. Please use the reference: 4751/006 + surname. Email proof of payment to photo AT kearsney.com.

** The closing date for submission is 1 June 2025.

Judging Panel

** The judging panel is made up of leaders in the visual arts industry.

** The judges selected are completely independent of the schooling system with no affiliation to Kearsney or any school that submits work.
