UWC Moves 2021 Registrations Online (See How to Register & Dates)

The University of the Western Cape has moved it’s registrations online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. UWC national university committed to excellence in teaching and learning.

The 2021 Academic Year will commence on 8 March 2021 at UWC.

Registration Dates

  • PhD and Masters (new and returning) – 11 January 2021
  • Undergraduate (returning) and Honours and PG diploma/certificate – 25 January 2021
  • New First Time Entry – 23 February 2021

Registration will take place online through the UWC Student Portal.

UWC spokesperson Gasant Abarder told IOL:

The university has received about 60 000 applications for first year study for 2021. Registration of students will occur online only. The university has a helpline to assist those first years who have been accepted and offered a placement with their registration.

Applicants/Students will need to access the Student Portal at various stages of their registration. Log in details are as follows:

  • Student Number
  • SA ID or Passport number

They will then need to follow the registration steps on the main menu.

Students need to be sure to adhere to the registration dates as no late registrations will be accepted, unless permission is sought from and granted by the Faculty in question.

All self-funded students need to pay a registration fee of R1445 with first time students paying R4290 which includes the upfront payment and the registration fee together.

For NSFAS and bursary students, Financial Aid will need funding information for clearance. Students will then receive a SMS which confirms their clearance and they can thereafter register.
